Grand Blue Beginner Guide: Your First Hour in Early Access

Grand Blue is still in Early Access, so a lot of the game is explained only in the in-game Logbook and in videos. This is the short version of what to do first, pulled from the community Trello and five beginner videos.

1. Redeem the codes

Open Settings (the gear icon at the top left), go to the Codes tab and redeem every working code. You get dozens of Trait and Race Rerolls, several Fruit Chests and a few thousand Celestial Coins. Hold on to the rerolls until you have read the races and traits pages.

2. Open the Logbook

The Logbook is the game’s own wiki. The Trello describes it as the place for tutorials, drop rates and your fruit skill levels, and it is also where you claim achievements (which pay Celestial Coins) and pick titles. Read the tutorial section once; it covers world events and treasure maps.

3. Get your first Devil Fruit

Buy the Rusty Shovel for 25 gold near Almighty Calvin in Anchor Town, then take his quest: dig up four shells and trade them for a Fruit Chest. After that, fruits spawn on trees every hour. Full steps: how to get fruits.

4. Learn a fighting style

Two styles are sold in Anchor Town for 250 gold each: Brawler from Wallace near the docks, and Novice Swordsman from Shiro by the pond. Brawler suits a Strength build that trades hits; Novice Swordsman upgrades the sword skills you get from Corrupt Marines. The other two styles come later. See fighting styles.

5. Start Sushi’s training

Sushi’s training quests have you hit the training dummy (100 hits, then 1,000, and so on). The fifth step, Sushi’s Training 5, rewards King’s Punch, a chargeable Strength skill that many videos call a secret skill.

6. Level on repeatable quests

Take the repeatable Marine Captain quest and hand it in again and again until about level 30, then buy a rowboat at the docks and sail east to Clown Town. The full route is in the leveling guide. Spend your stat points as you go; the stats guide explains each one.

7. Join world bosses when they spawn

World bosses appear every hour on the hour. You do not need to land the last hit: contributing enough damage earns a world boss chest, which can hold Fruit Chests and Celestial Coins.

Things not to do

• Do not look for Haki. It is not in the game yet. See Haki.
• Do not use scripts. The official description says exploiters get banned.
• Do not eat every common fruit. Fruit skill levels save per fruit, but a guide video suggests selling spare commons for gold instead.
